Question Exploding nocks! What arrows should I be using?

    Hello,
I started in archery a few months ago. I have started shooting a lot more this past week and started having a problem. I keep breaking nocks, they get a crack running down the middle of them. I didn't notice at first and have had a couple explode, which is a bit unnerving. Out of 12 arrows I now have 3 that are NOT cracked... I think the arrows may be too weak. They are easton genesis 1820 arrows for target shooting.

I have a 52" AMO Bear Kodiak Magnum rated at 48#, but my draw is closer to 29". So... what I am wondering is, can someone suggest what I should be using to shoot for target shooting? The shafts on these seem plenty strong, but like I said, exploding nocks are making me pretty nervous!

    Thanks!

Genesis arrows are kids arrows and are designed for 25# MAX poundage.

You are risking getting seriously hurt shooting these arrows out of a 48# bow.

You can visit eastonarchery.com and download their arrow charts. At first glance you should be shooting 2117 or 2216 arrows.

YIKES! That's good to know, glad you let me know that before something bad happened. I'll have to check the charts out and see if the local archery shop can get them for me. Thanks!

I also think you are underspined by a bit, but those nocks sound defective. They should'nt be breaking. Those 1820s are rated at a .592 spine.
With a trad bow, it can get really picky depending on DW, DL, arrow lenth, and point weight. Personally I don't think your in the 2216 range, but mabey if you kept them long and used heavy points. But I do think mid .400-500 spine with 100-125 grain points.
Just to give you some idea of what is out there, the lower the spine number, the stiffer the arrow.
