    Default Vegetarian Field Shoot

    Hi all,

I need some help with a task that I’ve been asked to take care of by my local archery club.

Basically, I’ve only been doing archery for a few months now and the club where I shoot have asked if I’ll help out with a shoot they are organising which is their Vegetarian Field Shoot where the idea being that as some of the club members are vegetarian and feel uncomfortable shooting images/models of animals, a range of different vegetables and fruits will be the targets instead.

The club have asked me to help out with a couple of aspects of the shoot as follows:-

1), Sourcing some targets – basically I’ve been asked to look into which fruit/vegetables would make the best or most interesting targets so I was wondering what experience (if any) other people might have of this sort of thing.

2), Lighting – as the club intend to start this shoot late afternoon on into the early evening, we will need to light the targets so they can bee seen. I don’t really want to have a load of torches lighting things as I think a softer light from something for each target would make the targets more interesting - again, anyone got any ideas on what I could set up for this?

I would appreciate any help that you can give as I’m really starting to enjoy my archery and I want to become a key member of the club and help them whenever possible

    Regards

    Damian

BY FAR.......THE POST OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!

    Thank you

On a side note, I would point out that there are many non animal targets manufactured today, many of them resemble circles, some are even printed in color, although they are a bit more expensive......and......there are even some orgs out there that may be able to better help with your query. Here is a phone numer that may help 757-622-7382

As for the lighting, do a search here or on AT for "Coon Shoot"

Are you sure someone isn't putting you on?

    Why I never.

Maybe look into buying some plastic fruit from a craft store.

Good luck and to 3d shoots.

Let us know how it goes.

I would try to find some pink plastic flowers and set then up to shoot at. no more than 20 yards as they will probably be shooting pink bows at around 25 lbs.

Maybe I just haven't been around long enough...But... exactly where is the "kill Zone" on a peach or an apple".
I think his club is either messing with him or he is messing with us. But regular targets of concentric circles are not new.

Well you could go buy 20 Rinehart "bear on a stump" targets. You could just send me the bears and you keep all the stumps. I never did like shooting that tree stump anyway.
Or better yet you could go buy 20 rinehart "deer eating the apple" targets and you keep the apple and send me the deer. Let me know if you need my mailing address.
