Now this I do have to agree with.

If the President can go to a private company like Chevrolet and fire their CEO because they're going broke, why can't he go to the oil company's and say you CAN'T have a pump price higher that $2.25?

I sure wish they would stop the use of corn for making it into gas. Sure is driving up the cost of our food supply.

Lets just get them drilling offshore and all over the USA.

We also need the OIL firms to get one or more gas refinery. None been made since WWII.

Were is the USA govt in setting policy to correct these problems. Need both the right and left to get in line to make these changes made.

You need to read up on the principles of supply and demand.

And GM is no longer a private company......it's goverment owned.

And this is totally wrong. The governement has no business sticking it's nose into our economy. We finished fighting a cold war for some 50+ years with a country (USSR) that took over everything and completely stifled economic growth. That and their military spending drove them to the brink of bankruptsy. The people had no freedoms.

Now you guys say that the government should control everything. Sound like the former USSR? And look where our economy is going. We are near a crisis with our foreign and personal debt in the country. Our government sells bonds to cover their excess spending, and most of it is bought by foreign countries. They own us, lock stock, and barrel. If the Chinese would ever call up the bonds they have we would be bankrupt as a country, totally. It would cause a depression that we'd never live through economically.

You think the government should help out or control prices? When the hell have our government officials ever done anything right? Why do you think we're in the mess we're in? Because we gave up the responsibilty of fixing things and passed it on to them.

I don't care what they pay for gas in Canada, England or some BF country in europe and I'm tired of that same old arguement about we don't pay our fair share......we pay our fair share everytime there's a problem or crisis in some crap hole country.

With the money and lives we lost in Iraq we should be getting free oil. We should be charging for every military man hour spent in that crap hole area. Or for that matter anytime the world calls on us to fix a problem we should be charging. What a way to fix our deficit in a hurry.
to that hole statement! if more people like me and you would stand up to the politicians then they would eventually listen to us.

Default How do we fix it?

You are all right, but your sort of looking under the wrong rug.
As far as how do we fix this situation in the short term:
Make cars and trucks that run on Natural Gas! Natural gas is the most abundant gas in the world and would work perfectly for this purpose. You will start to see this in the near future if we can get some laws changed. Just Google Natural gas abundance and it will blow you away. Oil companies have been storing it underground for decades in salt domes in Texas. Some of these salt domes are the size of Rhode Island. They store it because there is no market for it and its an afterthought of producing oil. We use about 5% of the natural gas that we can produce in the USA each year in home heating. Back in the late 70ís, lots of people in rural Ne. where I grew up were converting their vehicles to propane burners and their vehicles ran well on it. A little power loss, but 20lbs would take you about 200 miles. That was a simple conversion kit. What happened to that technology?? OIL COMPANIES DONíT GET RICH PRODUCING IT SO THEY SHOVED IT UNDER OUR RUG. Itís the same with natural gas.
    Our politicians are bought off every time they try to do something different in running an internal combustion engine, thatís why the emphasis has been put on electric cars. {There is a waste of time in my opinion}
Until big oil stops running our country by ear marking bills, we will not fix the real problem. When you have a company like Exxon that net billions each year and can do what ever they want with Americas politics ďWe the peopleĒ will not be allowed to win.
Yes, there is thousands of trillions of barrels of oil in the US, but it has been protected by liberals.
How? Oil companies paid Bob Dole millions to do it in the Clinton administration. Big oil companies were forced out of America by the Carter administration because of caps on oil drilling to save a Caribou in AK. and for fear of an oil spill off the coast of California.
There is more oil in ND, MT, SD and southern Canada {the Bakken Formation} then there is in Iran. There is more oil in AK then there is in Libya.
There is as much oil off the coast of CA. as there is in Saudi Arabia.
Big oil companies have put all their equipment in the Middle East because its cheaper to drill there because they donít have to beg for a permit to get it done then move their equipment and man power back here to do it. They are not allowed to drill by the current administration by design. Its easier and therefore cheaper to do it over seas.
The only way we could possibly win this in the short term is with Natural Gas. But it wont happen because its counter productive for Big Oil Profits. The blame is on Liberals. No where else. Change American politics, then there is no oil crises.

Default How do we fix this? Update

Guys I just googled one thing, The Bakkon. Just look at this ch#*. If we used cars and trucks that ran on Natural gas {a byproduct of oil production} we would be oil independant for hundreds of years. See below.
