Well Bunny, stay away from AT. I almost never post there anymore, but I do scan through now and then. I just saw a thread with this title:

I dnt no wat to do

I had to open it and it went downhill from there. Imagine what it does to an English major to read such drivel.

I'm with ya on this one Bunny. If a person can type upwards of 60 words per minute then there's no reason to use "text lingo". Save it for the cell phone. When I read a thread or posts I like to read real words so as to comprehend just what is being asked or said. Call me old school, but anybody that knows the English language knows there are only two more letters to the word "you" vs "u".

Take a look at the reference tedlebo posted. "I dnt no wat to do". How lazy can a person get. Five more keys and the words would have been complete. How much time would that have taken?

I deal with a quite a few people these days and find that people from non-English speaking countries do a better job with their English. I think the main reason is that they take some pride in knowing another language. I wish some of our youth would take a little more pride in knowing their own and use it properly.

While we are at it, can we all agree that when we talk about turkey, duck , or goose decoys that we actually use the word decoy instead of dekes??

I have to wonder how they manage in the real world. On my last job, I watched a vendor who was a shoe-in for a job in our facility LOSE an almost quarter million dollar contract simply because of spelling errors in the final proposal. It was their contract to lose, my engineer and I were both pulling for them, but the higher ups tried reading the proposal and never finished it. They simply moved on to the next one.

Well, JTClark is little rough around the edges, too. Took me quite a while to figure what language or dialect he was using. He might be a foreigner living in the USA so I've learned to keep my mouth shut. I'm not perfect either.

Yes, bfisher he is one of the ones...along with some others...

I am not perfect but I try to take the time to make sure people can understand the words that I type.

If i want to go to Mexico, I learn Spanish...Russia i learn Russian...Germany, I learn German...

Hell if i want to go to NYC I learn Ebonics...
