    Default Bow Weight

First of all, I like to say hello. I am new to this site but not new to archery.

I always shot hunting bows but really didn't get into it unless I go out with my buddies. But now, I am really into target and 3d shooting. It's pretty fun.

I am in the market of buying an new bow and I have my eyes on a Elite Tour at #70. However, I notice on other target bows that I have looked at, the draw weight on most of them max out at #60. Is there a reason for that? I would think for decent 3d shooting, you would want higher speed. Is there some kind of rule that limits the weight for target or 3d tournaments?

you can get all the speed you need from a 60# bow by using a lighter arrow. the lower weight is easier on your muscles and joints too since you'll be doing alot more shooting. not sure of any draw weight rules in the various shooting organizations. ASA had a speed limit of 280 fps unless they changed it.

Talking A little known fact !

Some even shoot 50 lb. bows , but 60s are what you see mostly !

    Just don't buy a 80lb. bow !
