    Default afraid

I have been a member for a month or 2 now. After clicking on a topic and porn popping up on more then one occassion I am afraid to click on some topics. My 8 year old likes to sit with me and look at the forums (A/T. Ross and this one). I hate to say it but I make him close his eyes before I click on any topic on this sight or I don't visit till he is in bed. I can't take the chance. Don't get me wrong 99.99999% of the people here are good folks but it only takes one and this site can become adults only in some house holds. I'm not a computer expert by no means but is there a way to filter out all the none archery related salesmen and freaks who think everybody wants to see pron when all I want to do is find a Ross CR337 to buy.

There has been some crap on here as of lately. Chris and others are doing a good job of getting rid of it as quickly as they can. I too hope the spammers stay away.

That's great your getting your son involved in archery. Welcome to both of you to the forum. Keep on postin

luckily I haven't witnessed any images yet on here just a lot of stupid links to sites... I would advise not clicking on any links that people with less then 10 - 20 posts put up here. Most of the people that put the scum links are just here for 1 purpose. to get you to their site...

we'd hate to lose a fellow archer because of these idiots.

I look at how many post that person has first, most of those porn posters only have 1 post and they are already have a link in it. I also notice that they never have a question and/or about archery in it. I recommend that you read the post count first and then the message, both of those are a dead givaway. Just like you, you only have one post under you. The thing to your benifit is that you took the time to put something in your thread that was other, "Hey, everyone check out this cool link!!!". Just make sure you check out those two things first and that would be a big help in knowing.

Also you can wait till Dredly or Bowman check the site out for us , the only thing is that it might take them an hour to get back to us and inform us that it was a porn link

    Welcome to the site...

Because the government is not regulating the internet -> anything goes. But, having said that, if the government were regulating it we would be paying to send email, amongst other things... It's a double edge sword.

There is no internet security today that prevents the posting of links to porn sites and other cr*p. You just have to use caution. This site is particularly clean of that kind of stuff. I guess I've been on here for 6-8 months or so and have found it to be really good with really nice people that are genuinely helpful and sometimes entertaining in a good way.

I hope you stick around and see what this site has to offer.

I don't plan on going anywhere. it just angers me and I know it does for may others here. i come here for the archery related stuff and the people that want to sell non-related archery equipment go to ebay and the individuals who want to post adult pics and links go to a forum that supports that topic of discussion. I know the mods are doing there best.

    Thanks Benny

I hate it more than anyone. We're reviewing options for moderators to help kill the spammy messages.

It's really a pain in the you know what. I kill them, ban them, ban their IP addresses and they just keeping coming back for more.

If any of you would like to recommend someone for a moderator position, please PM me and tell me why that person would be a good moderator. I'm not saying we will make them a moderator or if they would even accept the position. I just like to hear what the archery family thinks and wants.

Also if you see spam or porn click the little red exclamation point at the right hand side of the page (just above the join date) to report it to me. It makes it faster for me to kill it, just in case I had not noticed it.

    Default Welcome!

    Hey pierce (aka Benny)

to our corner of the archery world. There are a number of us that, as soon as a post is suspect, report it to Chris.
One thing is that just by hovering (not clicking) over a link will tell you where it is going to take you in the lower left of your screen (Win 2000 & XP). I haven't seen any questionable pics posted in a forum yet, but the recomendations from Dredly & dodgenscience74 are good ones.
I just got my 9 year old a bow for Christmas and my youngest (turning 5 this month) will be getting a bow too. I know how you feel. Your computer has security options to limit access to questionable sites. (PM me and I'll help you try to find them)
I think 3dshoots.com has done an awsome job putting down this activety. It is just in the last couple weeks we've seen an increase in this type stuff. I do believe more mods will help, but there may be a time when a mod isn't online and something could slip in for a few hours.
I think this site has incredible people, very helpful and funny too. Even BOWMAN....

Santa brought my son a martin tiger and he is shooting it everyday. He is still working out some bugs with his fourm but all in all he is doing great. He can't wait to visit his grandpa's so he can hang a tree stand and shoot from there. Mom said no more then 5' off the ground though. He's eight and color blind so sometimes he miss counts the pins and the arrows is off to never never land. But it all good times.

Hey Benny, thats awesome that you have your son shooting! I'm curious as to how many pins he is shooting? You may be able to make it much easier to shoot for him if there are only like 2 pins in his sight, one for 20 and one for 30. Then its either top pin or bottom pin. Just a suggestion

Oh and if you want to post up some pics on here we can give you some pointers on his form if you would like

The next time we shoot I will take some pics and let him read the recommendations. I know his draw length is to long but he won't let me change the draw mod. Maybe he will change his mind if he sees it here.

    Thanks
