Thread: My night

Well I finally got out hunting last night and it was beautiful! The ground was totally saturated due to all the rain recently. So you couldn't hear anything! it was silent, calm, and cool. Just a perfect night to be out hunting. as the cold chill of the october evening crept into my clothes I could only shiver from anticipation. The smell of the woods, all the deer I "thought" I saw. Was that a twig that just snapped? No, just an acorn making it's way to the ground. It's so quiet, even the birds aren't singing. Soon its too dark to see and I slowly make my way down from the stand. Disapointed that I din't get a shot off (or even see more than just a doe about 60 yrds away). But still content in the fact that I can hunt. That the good Lord has given me the ability to hike into the woods and climb up in a tree in this beatiful sacred
place. So for now the feezer remains empty but my heart is filled with joy to think of what my next trip to the woods might bring. That's why they call it hunting and not killing. Good luck to all of you this season."We all must hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."

The older we get the less it is actually about killin deer and more about enjoying the time in the woods. Let's all remeber that it is a gift that we are givin by our creator that we have the ability to do the things we do. Enjoy the time you can get out and hunt because the day will come for all of us when we will climb our treestands for the last time.Bass and Bucks Staff Shooter

Great Thread. That's what hunting is all about. It's the freedom and the feel, sights, smell and sounds of the woods. The adredalin you feel as the deer approaches and you pull back is what's it all about. The actual deer is just the prize. Granted I feel disappointed if I don't get a shot and a deer, But even then I feel that it was a good day.

Each year for Easter, my family and I go camping. We usually go to catch the crappie while they're spawning. People always look at me weird when I tell them what I will be doing over the Easter weekend. I just usually reply... there's no place better than being on a lake, listening to the sounds of nature, watching the sun rise as you get a nibble on your line. To me there's nothing closer to God than that!
Same goes with hunting...
