Some meaningful ADVICE before you take that shot....
A hunting buddy of mine 17 years ago always told me this...
When that deer comes into your shooting range....imagine that that deer has a rifle.....you MUST WAIT until that deer presents you with a CLEAR shot.....then you must COMPOSE yourself to make that shot....
if you do not do the 2 things mentioned above....that deer will shoot you as you stand....
Remember this.....you obviously have done something RIGHT for that buck to be within range....
NOW is the time to deliver......wait....pick a spot....slowly squeeze...
2008 82nd Airborne Realtree H/D Green, I shot the 101st first...and then the 82nd second...went with the 82nd FIRST....

I like that you said "you've done something right for the deer to be in range." alot of times i think I get to the point where we think it's all luck. I think it says something for your confidence to see a deer walk down the exact path you thought they would. it's just time to close the deal at that point. Pretending the deer has a rifle is a novel idea."We all must hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."

I must agree with what you have said. Good way to look at it..
