welcome to iowa, i growing up in northwest iowa and now resident in wisconsin, well i have know iowa deer hunting can be very good if u start research in ur area or go ask permission from landowners, iowa farmers just hate deer so they want keep deer damage from crops . so pick up topographic or area or drive around in gravel road as long as u find good look area and stop and ask for permission or go publicland either..

i already have 8 permission to get in landowner since i grow up and still know the people that live there .

just give some time for them to trust you then u will be goood to go in and out without get stop by landonwer..

good luck on new life in iowa.. enjoy the corn and best whitetail ..

carpshooter,
what county do u live in iowa ? i grow up in sac county town carnarvon iowa, and have been hunt most in carroll county coon rapid area, greene county churdan iowa and some in calohun/sac county between auburn and lake city iowa

right now i livein wisconsin, and still would thinking about move back to iowa someday after hunt season end in wisconsin, i really miss my hometown and local hotspots around where i hunt...

alot flexible place to shooot ur target in town and the cop doesnt cares about about it, the people where i live are like get together and trust and know eachother with no problem it's not like a city,
