Default Tree stands...Before and After

Got a couple of chain ons for a good deal. So far took one and sanded it down cleaned it up good and touched it up. Basically camo painted it and sprayed on autobody undercoating on grate, cables and attatch points to quiet it down. Some pointers are....spray on under coating on top grate first. The next one im going to have a buddy weld on some brackets that I can attach ratchet straps, this one im just going to hook them onto the main frame. Now just got to let it air out, smoke it and scent killer it.
I still need to touch up the bolts....Let me know what you guys think and pitch in any tips....Ill post more pics once its hung.

Those will work good.... Just be sure you wear a safety harness.

One thing I found this year is that a lot of people are tearing down old TV antenna towers. I bought three for cheap. 2 piece towers that will get to about 16 feet. These things are the cat's meow for a ladder. Put a hang on like you have along side the top of one of those towers and you'll have a stand that's better than you can buy in any store. Just strap the 2 segments of the tower to the tree and hang your stand. I did 2 myself and wish I had somebody to help me. I'm not small but these things are heavy duty and weigh a fair amount.

Good luck with that, it looks like your on the right track.

There is a seat that straps onto the tree if those get bothering your legs, that is the only problem I had with those...

I like how you put undercoating on them, thats a great idea...Nice paint job...You cant beat stands you get cheap and need very little work...

I bring a piece of shag carpet to stand on with any platform or expanded metal tree stands. It hides my foot motion, and keeps the ice forming on my boots from falling to the ground when I move my feet. Also, wet rubber squeaks on metal. I don't know if the undercoating will prevent squeaking.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, BE CAREFUL WITH THOSE STANDS!!!!!

they sell tham locally for $39.99

I had one, it was the most UNSAFE stand I have ever been in.......when you can open and break the chain links with a normal screw driver, its time to use a different attachment system.....the one I had got stolen and I am sure the guy died while using it.....I kinda even feel sorry for him.....

yeah, you might want to add or replace the chain with a heavy duty ratchet strap.

Yah im going to ratchet the top and bottom and use chain. I always use a harness as well....try to use the line mans belt from ground up but always hook in before climbing into stand. I was also thinking about getting those foam hunting thermaseats and zip tie it to the seat or just some other kind of foam. So far I got these two stands two Big Dog beagles and a Gorilla King Kong.....want to use that Kong stand but only have public land to hunt while out here in ND. So im just using the cheapos and got two more on the way. It was a good project for a windy and snowy day. Thanks for the carpet idea....going to have to try that.
