Default Hurt, upset, angry, and any words to show dissapointment

I went moday morning to help look for a 11 pointer a friend of mine shot all we found was a half dollar spot of dark blood where he laid for 15 minutes in a beanfield. He said that when he dropped his rattling horns out of the tree the deer got up and trotted off. I then left where we parked and drove up the road and stopped to talk to the boys who hunt across the road. As we were talking a deer ran across on of my fields he was HUGE. i grabbed my rifle out of the truck and watched where he ran across a small draw. Then a doe ran across the field followed by a small four pt. Then here comes big boy back. I tried to stop him a 80 yrds by grunting. he finally stopped at 300 yrds. I took aim fired he bucked hard kicking booth back feet high up. and stumbleing off. I expected him to be piled up 50 yrd away. I tracked this deer for 500 + yrds finding blood from what looked like 2 exit holes, bone fragments and what looked like some meat. I found a spot where he piled up and rolled around. needles to say after hours and hours of searching with some of the finest local trackers no results. After he got up from where he was laying We only found 3 pindrops of blood. Watching for the crows and buzzards now. Two huge bucks lost in two days off of one lease. What a shame. I am done horn hunting this year. On a brighter note I have killed two does.

That does bite. Several years ago I shot a doe offhand out of a ladder stand ~135yds with a 30-06. I went and examined the shot site found just a very little dark blood and a small piece of bone. I'm sure from the evidence that I hit too far back and made a liver shot. (I don't take unsupported shots that far away anymore) Anyway, I went off and followed the blood trail skimpy as it was, it ran out quickly and I never found her. Lesson learned - even a high powered rifle is not the hammer of Thor and regardless of what you hit them with if you don't make a quick killing shot back off; I didn't and I'm pretty sure that cost me the recovery. Having said that I was very disappointed with the performance of that bullet (blood trail: it had to have just poked a hole with little expansion) and right or wrong it was the last Cor-Lokt I have ever used - I just don't have any confidence in them after that. Only deer I have lost.

My friends deer that he lost was shot with a 30-06 180 grain cor lokt at 20 yrds and he walked of I am not inpressed. My deer was shot with a win. power point. I have no doubt that the bullets are greeat they have droped two does stone dead in two days. I just broke the cardinal rule of wounded deer WAIT 30 min to 45 minutes.
