A Tale of Two BowTech 82nds!
I was very skeptical early this year when I ordered my Airborne 82nd. I already had a 101 and was liking it very well. The Speed of the 82 caught my attention and I had to try it for myself regardless of my concerns about the short BH.
My worries were soon put to rest when my Airborne 82nd in APG arrived, and I had time to set it up and shoot arrows through it a few weeks. The Bow was very impressive in many ways, Quiet, Accurate, and Very Fast!!
Bow is outfitted as follows:
1. Octane quiver in matching APG
2. HHA Optimizer Ultra
3. Limb Driver in matching APG
4. BowJax insert for ShortStop
5. 7" Octane Stabilizer in matching APG
6. Sling Braid Sling
7. 3/16" G5 Meta Peep
Here's a few pics!

After shooting the 82nd for a while and realizing how well this Bow fit me I knew I was going to have to convert my 101 over to an 82. It is basically a limb change, but I thought while I was at it I might as well finish it in my favorite Camo pattern. So a project was Born!! Here are the resulting stats:
61#, 28" draw
329 grain CX Maxima 312fps 71.13#KE
362 grain CX Maxima Hunter 301fps 72.84#KE
502 grain Easton FMJ's 259fps 74.79#KE
348 grain CX Aramids 306fps 72.37#KE these are probably the arrows I will hunt with the majority of the time this fall. Weight and Speed was taken with the 100 grain Grizz Trick screwed on the end.
I took care to set Cam rotation, Timing, and Draw Stop all to exacting specs.
After shooting these Airbornes most of the Summer I am impressed and realize that the Allegiance has taken a back seat in my Lineup.
Bow is outfitted as follows:
1. Matching Predator Octane quiver (I'm waiting)
2. HHA Optimizer Ultra
3. Limb Driver
4. BowJax Insert for the ShortStop
5. Predator 10" Multi-Rod Doinker
6. Sling Braid Sling
7. Lambeth Custom sideplates
8. G5 3/16" Meta Peep
9. Lower mount MeanV suppressor custom dipped in Predator
10. Vapor Trail strings with my own custom speed weights that I tuned to maximum benefit.
Dipping a Bow like this does Void the Warranty!
Here are the Pics!!

Does the Bowjax short stop insert make a noticeable difference as far as noise level or is it just supposed to be more durable or something?
Definately nice rigs....

You can get them at www.meanvarchery.com under accessories They are more durable, quieter, and eliminate any tuning issues due to the V catch.

First off Dan, those are some nice looking rigs. I love my 82nd.
I have got to get me the short stop insert, I like that one that you have.
Question, is there a reason that you have a CSS with a short stop? Does it make a big difference?

The 2 really work well in conjunction with each other. I wasn't the 1st to try it, but after talking with a couple of guys who had I decided to put one on.
Good Move!!

I put one of your Mean V CSS on my Tribute and that made a world of difference in how quiet that bow shot. I will have to order on for my 82nd and try that.

Cam timing and maintenance
It sounds like you can give answers to my concerns about the 82nd. How much trouble is it to set up tune and how often does it need to be redone. In the old days two cams were a real maintenance chore, have new strings and cables fixed that ?? Even Mathews is going to two cams for speed.
I am 65 and want to back off on the 70# but want speed so I am looking at the 82nd 60# as a trade off.

I have an 82nd. I put a set of Vapor Trail strings & cables on it last summer. I then set Cam timing, Cam sync, and tuned.
After hunting with it all season it was still dead on.

I love my 82nd after some growing pains.
Had it almost a year now.....
The short stop replacement insert that Meanv sells is a good ticket.
I still have my original 452x cables/string on it from the factory and I don't have an issue with anything tuning-wise. I did put a limb driver on it from jcmorgan31 and will probably get a Meanv surpressor from Dan. He's a good guy to work with.
I'm not sure why you have 2 82nd's in camo there Dan.... You need to check one of the camo ones at the door and get a Testarossa on like mine....
Great looking bows there though.
Ron

Ron, The APG 82nd is leaving! I had to make room for the 09's. I have wanted an all Black Bow even Black Cams, but just can't decide which model.
The Mini MeanV (it is for the short brace height bows) has now become the Mini MeanV Maximum.
It is made from 7075 alloy which yields a higher tensile strength without adding any weight. The regular MeanV also comes in a Maximum model now. I am pretty excited about them.
They are Sweet!
Dan
