If the bolts stick out past the end of the crossbow, you can shoot what you want. The only problem with mechanical heads is the speed at which the crossbow shoots. Some mechanicals will open when shot from a crossbow.
If the bolts are shorter than the end of the crossbow. You will have to shoot a fided blade head. Line up the blades with the vanes and shoot away. Most bolts will be long enough to stick out past the riser of the bow.
