I went to the outdoor range yesterday since it was so nice and shot my switchback XT for about 2 hours.
I noticed for the first time how loud it sounds. Usually I'm shooting indoors so I never notice but outdoors you can hear that faint thwang after the release.
It's much better than my pearson ever could be but I want silent if at all possible.
Right now the bow has no string silencers which I'm sure would help. I also noticed the rubber stoppers are getting pretty worn. Would replacing these help it out some?
Also what about an STS. How much does that help with noise reduction?
I had to put cat whiskers on mine string leaches didn't work, You should notice a big difference! The string suppressors as far as I'm concerned do not reduce the noise!
If the factory suppressors are getting worn then yes that can cause it. I put an STS and Cat Whiskers on mine and it is very quiet. But I would say the suppressors are your problem.
