F.O.C. and Spine Suggestions for GTO
Hey Folks, 3d season is all but over for me (have prior obligations until the 2nd weekend of August), so on to preparing for hunting season.
Here are my current specs:
2008 Elite GTO (60lb limbs)
29.25" AMO Drawlength
Gold Tip XT Hunters: 5575's (.400 spine), 100gr Tip, 28.5" raw shaft, 3 blazers, stock nock and inserts, 4" wrap = ~ 383gr
I would like to retain using my 100gr Slick Trick broadheads.
What F.O.C. do you all recommend for hunting?
The GT XT5575's seem weak spined to me. These arrows shoot very inconsistantly out of the GTO. Using the TAP program, everything I do w/ the 5575's produce a extremely weak spine condition, Unless I drop the poundage down to the mid 50's, which I don't care to do.
I have aquired(found them super cheap) a dz Victory VForce .300 spine arrows. According to TAP, if I cut these at 29"(raw shaft), they will spine just a hair stiff and weigh ~ 435gr w/ 10.5% F.O.C.. I could also cut these down as far as 27.5"(raw shaft) and use a 50gr brass insert and still get them to spine in the yellow per TAP w/ 13.5 - 15% F.O.C., depending on lenght of cut. Another option w/ these is to use 125gr points, which I don't want to do.
The other option is the GT XT7595's. I could cut these to 28"(raw shaft) w/ 100gr points, and get them to spine in the yellow per TAP w/ ~13% F.O.C..
Lots of questions and info, but what do you other GTO shooters suggest???
