Default Cam change questions

Newby to the site. Looks like a lot of good info to digest.

I recently purchased a used DXT. It is 28/70 factory, but had a 27 cam installed. I bought a 28" cam and replaced the 27. I had it shooting good with the 27 before I changed to try to learn what effect this has. With no tuning after the change, I was shooting 2 ft low at 25yds. I checked the nock height and it was a little high. I raised the rest to re-level the nock, rather than lower the nock loop point. Then of course I had to lower the site considerably to get back to shooting flat. I guess that I have learned that changing the cam requires lowering the nock point, rather than reseting everything else. Please confirm and I welcome all comments.
