this might explain the bad hair cut........
I got me a hair cut from my friendly barber today, 12 bucks!! up from the normal 10 bucks.
anyway, when I got back to work I was complaining about the price of a hair cut and so on.... and I guy I worked with asked me how much I tipped him??? What?? I don't tip the barber.....he said he does all the time.
Do you tip your barber?

Why tip the barber? If the guy wanted $12 for a cut, charge $12

Yup, 2 or three bucks...not sure why but I've always done it. Still lots cheaper than my wife, costs her 60 bucks to get her hair cut. Don't think she tips...so whats the difference?

A little known fact !
I live in rural Iowa and the price here at my barber is $ 7.00 and I only tip at Xmas time .
The Indians use to do it for nothing at one time around here ,so it has gone up as it isn't so bloody now !

My haircut is $10. I give him a $20. His place has 3 steps and is not wheelchair accessible. He's risked a hernia getting me in there many times. It's the least I can do.

Because most of them are on straight commission... 50% so their cut is $6...

My barber is the owner so I don't tip. If they want more than $12 raise the price. Then a lot of customers will go somewhere else.

Not me. He charges $13 for a 15 minute cut ( More than I make!)- I figure he's making pretty good anyways. Besides if he expects a tip on top of that then include it in your price? It's not that he's working for someone else at a low paying wage scale like a restautant waiter.

Wal-Mart clippers $20. Wife buzzing with the #4 guard. Me and my 2 sons for about 3 years now with the same clippers. WOW.....I should have banked the money saved.

I tried this once too..........I think my wife is cross-eyed, at least she cuts hair like she is.
Had to wear a hat for 3 months before the barber could straighten it out.

sue his butt!
My haircuts are $10, I have little hair, but I still tip 20% minimum. But I see lots of guys give him $20 and say keep it.
I usually try to tip 30% at the bar.

I have to put in my 2 cents on this one.
A person doesnt have to tip. Its there right but I ask them to go work in a public area like waitors, waitresses, casino clerks, bar tenders or hair dressers. Until you do that you wont appreciate there job. I didnt even know I should tip for good service until I graduated high school and started working in a few of those fields.
Also it seemed like the people who tipped were always the ones winning. They definatly werent griping like some of the others. I think if you tip from your heart then it will all come back around full circle. If you give with a bitter heart or dont give at all then dont expect good things to come full cirlcle.
Still I say a person will have a completely different understanding or respect for the people that do work in public areas that are allowed tips.

I live in the Northeast...Most men's haircuts are 15$....I normally would tip 5$
I used to get a haircut 12 plus times a year...
I ain't that pretty to be spending 240$ plus on haircuts a year.
So as was mentioned 4 years ago, 20$ clippers and close to 1000$ worth of savings,
I even cut my hair myself (as well as my sons)
I would do my daughters too, (and my wifes...there is the real savings) if she would let me!

I think the cost of the divorce would outweigh the savings in perms and such, but that's just me.

I'll let you know, the hairs getting on the long side again, had to borrow a bobbie pin for the old lady yesterday to keep it from getting in the bow string.

Well it's that time of the year again.
I was going to stop by the barber on my way to work this AM but after looking in my wallet I decided to give it another day or two, I might want to eat sometime this week.
The wife says I'm starting to look like a hippy. I say what's wrong with that?
