2010 Vortex Open a Success
Nearly 200 competition and recreation archers participated in the 2010 Vortex Open last Saturday and feedback has been very positive. The weather was nice (a bit humid), courses challenging, good food, and great people. Tough to ask for more than that!
This was the second Vortex Open to be hosted by the Black Hawk Bowhunters Archery Club and plans are already in the works for next year. The venue has proven to be ideal.
“The Vortex Open is designed around simply having a good time,” said Tim Austin, Vortex sales team member and shoot organizer. All prizes (totaling $5,000 in value) were awarded by random drawing.” Having it structured that way breeds truly friendly competition, as well as keeps the event a fun, light-hearted social gathering for people who share similar interests.”
The Vortex Open featured 3D and FITA segments, offering archers a variety of targets to shoot at and test their skills. Several novelty shoots took place throughout the day adding to the excitement.
The final shoot off had adults paired with youths, again stressing the fun aspect as well as the importance of promoting youth participation shooting sports. The more fun our young archers have, the more they are likely to stick with the sport – and that’s a good thing.
Thanks to all who came out and enjoyed the day with us. We had a great time and hope you did too.
