quiet bow
What has everyone done to quiet a bow? I was shooting at longer distances this weekend out to 50 yards I can keep groups about the size of a tennis ball.
unfortunately my bow is so loud that I am sure if I shot at a deer at that distance the deer would move and I would hit it in the ass.

Really, that never crossed my mind. could you kiss my feet wile your down there?
Just kidding, I was actually surprised and have never really practiced past 30. would never shoot 50 yards in the woods anyway. But if bucky is going to stand at 38-40 yards it would be nice to know that I can make the shot and the deer won't jump the string.

Limbsaver buss cable silencers, limbsavers (better than bowjax limb silencers) and a string stop positioned just lightly touching your string at rest is a heck of a start...also make sure you have ZERO loose bolts rattling around on your bow too...

You might also check the specs on the bow. An out of spec bow is a loud bow.

ass shots can be deadly, don't underestimate them. If you bow is that loud, I'd suggest buying one made after 1985.

The bow is a parker buck hunter 2007. Every thing is in tune and shooting well. I got it at cabelas for around $200. Not the best bow but it was an effective way to get into the sport. I just want to get rid of the twang. I think I will try to get the sims hunters kit and the sims string decelerator. currently the only extras are a pair of string suppressors so It is probably about time i started adding on.

Sounds like good groups out to 50-yards. Is that with field points or with broadheads???? If you are not shooting broadheads when getting ready for deer season, you really should give them a try because they WILL shoot different than field points most of the time, especially fixed blades. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

I was shooting field points at 50. But I have shot my bh out to 30. I am shooting slick tricks this year and they fly right with my fp.

There are a lot of high priced items you can buy and put on your bow but for the best results.....................Cat Whiskers. Old school maybe but they just simply get the job done. Yeah yeah whatever they may slow you down a bit but I believe quiet is much more important than speed. Good luck and keep us posted on what you do to quiet it down.

Limbsaver all the way, i put the limbsaver stabilizer, the ultra quad's, and the string leechs. after i put those on you could barely hear it.

well I added the simms hunters pack and the simms string decelerator to my bow. it did a good job of getting rid of the twang and killing the felt vibration. I can still hear it but much better than it was. My wife told me that when she is 10 feet away she can't hear it at all. of coarse she may be just trying to get me to shut up about it.

Than I say it is ready to hunt. Cat rubber whisker did the trick for me and cheap too.

quivers can be a good source of noise too, maybe shoot some arrows without it and see where ya stand. i like soft locks, they are quiet .02
