Welcome to archery!!! If you have never shot a bow before, go to as many archery shops and try as many bows as you can then buy the one that fits and feels the best to you. The first piece of advice would be to get the CORRECT draw length and don't pull too many pounds. Many will try to tell you that you need a 70 lb. bow but in reality any where from 40 to 60 will do fine. Enjoy and have fun.

to 3D shoots

Pull up a stool and sit a spell.

What kind of archery are you looking to get into? hunting, target, 3d?

I plan to hunt with a bow and arrow. I am saving up for a good beginner's compound bow. Any suggestions in the $250-$300 range? Thanks for the input.

That's going to be a tough price range for something new. I would start traveling to every place that sell archery equipment and shoot everything you can get your hands on to find out what you like.

If your not in a hurry for a bow you might start watching the classifieds on here and AT. It's a buyers market on used bows right now.
