It's so deflating too... knowing it can come at any time with that many shots.

Congrats, awesome shooting just have a blast shooting and the 300s will come easy don't pay attention to scores just shoot ands have fun.

A 1/4" is HUGE.....that is the size of the housing with nothing in it. That's what I use for hunting.

For target I use a 3/64" with no clarifier, with a yellow #1 clarifier I use 3/64" or 1/16", with a green #2 I use a 1/16" usually.

Most times now I use a #1 in 1/16" since my eyes aren't as good as they were 10 years ago when I shot a 3/64" for just about everything

Thanks, I'll try those sizes.

I recently caved in and started wearing glasses

, still getting accustomed to finding a comfortable sight picture.

I thought the larger peep would help, but as it turns out I end up ditching the specs and shooting with out them.
I'm happy just shooting at a semi-blurred white circle, if I can see the X I tend to spend too much time aiming at it anyway.

Swapped to a pretty small peep tonight, helped big time.

Got warmed up, and was ready to rock n roll, 1st shot: X
2nd shot... 4

The rest of the round went pretty well, and dumped one more on about the 55th, last shot of that end too.

Finished with a 298 46X, picked up 5 X's from last night... so that's a positive

AAAHHH!! That's the worst!! If a 4 is going to fall why can't they all be at the end of 10 or 11?? At least then we can blame it on being wore out by the end

Tried a Vegas tonight, Had it going on but just couldn't hang in there... still not sure what caused the 3 wild ones.

At least I got one on each

With Vegas scoring that a 296....the X ring is a 10 as is the ring around it. The rest of the yellow is a 9. The following rings are 8, 7, 6 etc

ANd thanks again for the peep size tip...sure seemed to tighten them up.

Now, I gotta try some clarifiers to hopefully offset some blur. I pretty much shoot at a white or yellow blob.

Not a problem my man.

Over time I have found that most guys use a pretty big peep until they learn otherwise simply because most of us come from a hunting background and a bigger peep is better for letting in more light early and late in the day. But a smaller peep will usually tighten things up from a target standpoint.

as for comparing your target to GRIVs....ya gotta crawl before you walk. You can't go comparing yourself to one of the best in the country

But then it's a good thing I didn't take and post the pics from my target yesterday either

Yeah, I guess a non archer would look at one of those targets and think "umm...is that good"?

It's a whole other thing when ya know what all has to come together to put 30-60 shot basically in the same holes.

your pretty much spot on...pun intended...with that statement.

That's why people always get a chuckle at the "backyard" archers talking about groups and their ability.

But your target actually doesn't look that bad....take away the ones that are out...which are obviously just "bad shots" since they are actually pretty far out in comparison to the rest of your shots....if that was my target I would give my sight a few clicks to the left and your going to be more in the middle.

Congrats on some nice shooting. i have to put in some more time to be able to do that kind of shooting. havent shot spots but a couple times. i do mostly 3-d shooting.

Nice looking design.....the long draw guys should like that one.

I'm a short draw guy...well around avg length 27 3/4"...I am shooting a 35" with a 7" bh bow for all target now. Best scores ever.....even over my 38-41" Pro Elites with 8"+ brace heights

Release. As much as I love shooting fingers, I've decided
it's time to move along, getting harder to find anyone to
even shoot against, and ASA pretty much killed any plan I had

Put up a 299/39 in my first legit, TFAA sanctioned tourney today in Ft Worth.

Just one hair shy of 300 bobbed on a shot and caught a low 4.

I was kinda surprised by the final X count, just felt like I was picking up more than that along the way, but I'm pleased with the way the groups are starting to close up.

Nothing to worry about....when you go to a "bigger" shoot or any shoot for that matter shooting right around what you shoot in practice is good. If your 1st 300 was a 41...shooting 39Xs is right there really. Figure if you make a good shot on the one point you dropped and that's 40Xs.

Focus on shooting Xs....and not only will your 300s become easy your X count will climb. A 3.5 X avg gets you to 42Xs for the round....4 gets you to 48...

Hey Hornet,

Wondering what is your opinion on using a fall-away rest for indoor vs something else, like a lizard tongue or a BoDoodle Pro 500.

I've been using a fall away(TT), seems effective enough, but wondering if I'd gain anything from swapping?

any of them will work....use what you like and have confidence in. I just find a blade rest to be more forgiving though and easier to fine tune. But I do hunt with a drop away...although I have hunted with a Pro Tuner before and would have NO PROBLEM doing it again.

I hunted with the bow I shot field with last summer. All I did was change rest....it shot great but it didn't pound like it did with the blade on there. Even when I was shooting my field arrows from it....like I said to me a drop away isn't as forgiving as a blade rest. When you set a blade rest up correctly the blade actually will flex out of the way of the back of the shaft somewhat.
