shot some more bows today.. i think i like the hoyt.., BUT a little confused..

I went today to shoot the new invasion. I had a feeling this was going to be the most amazing bowtech ever to show its face. fastest, quietest, smoothest and all the good stuff..

WELL.. I, personally was not all too impressed. it had a lot of vibration and a "humm" sound at the shot, so a tad bit of noise was present. it sounded like a little bit of string noise. i am sure thats where the buzz and vib. came from. like Chris on here said, its a great center pivot, but its NOT a guardian or general. it is very VERY well balanced though, and has a SOLID wall. it was like a bow with a draw stop that stops on the limb. they did something right there, thats for sure.

besides that, it was just like a destroyer. same draw cycle and everything like that. good stuff. i think some slightly better string silencers would then make that go away.

I shot the assassin next to it.. it has a tiny "thump" and thats it. does not have the vibration felt and heard that the invasion had. the destroyer and assassin did not have that.

so, to step outside of the box, i shot the CRX against them. this had probably the smoothest draw, the same little "thump" sound that the destroyer and assassin had, but seemed to be the smoothest draw of the group of above mentioned bows.

the confusion: this was two areas. could the vibration/humm sound on the invasion sound/feel come from the FLX guard? and second, the centerpivot bows tend to be the quietest and "shock" free bows, so how does this one come out on the bottom.

also, the "bridged" riser on the hoyt bows, i believe is said to stiffen the riser, so just how much stiffer? is there a real big difference here?

Now as for the CRX of course it's smoother on the draw, it's not as fast. That's like being surprised a Toyota Camry gets better gas mileage than a Corvette.

Now, turn the Invasion down 10 lbs less than the CRX, you'll be shooting about the same speed. Now which one pulls easier?

One thing i havent heard anyone complain about is the rediciolus price tag the bowtech has on it. its going to be $950 plus tx.

Did you shoot the Carbon Element? or the Matrix?

I'm sure the vibes and noise you hear is coming from the FLX guard and the string Stop. BowTech has not hit the right combo with a string stop yet IMO.

Local BowTech dealer here had a standing order with me last year. Every Destroyer he got in I put a MeanV on it and Flx guard dampeners. It makes a big difference, and he noticed it enough on the 1st one that he wanted all the others done the same.

I think he sold about 70 Destroyers last year.

I'm sure this year I'll be doing the same for the Invasion & the Destroyers.

As far as the speed of the Invasion compared to the CRX? I have done several side by side tests in the last few years and when you get the draws the same, the poundage the same, & shoot the same arrow through the same graph, the Hoyts almost always shoot faster than their IBO indicates and the BowTechs fail to reach their top IBO projections.

Case in point The Alphamax 35 out shot the Captain by 7fps. The Captain did have slightly less vibe

The last thing I look at when I buy a bow is speed. Most any bow is plenty fast and the difference between a 323 fps bow and a 340 fps bow is not even worth talking about.

Many Archer's would be much better off shopping for Smooth, Quiet, Forgiving, and easy to shoot bows instead of just looking at IBO's which for the most part are highly inflated

More like around $849. The Specialist is going for around $950 for camo models.

MAP is $899. The $950 is msrp I believe. A dealer can sell them for whatever they want if I understand correctly. They just have to advertise the map price.

That's still pretty high considering the Hoyt CRX 32 is $799 MAP and selling as low as $730, even the Carbon Element is selling for only $1050 to $1100. Maitland Retribution 2011 will be selling for just over $700, and is available Smooth Cam or Speed Cam this year. BowTech obviously liked something about the 2010 Maitlands!

I'm not sure how you can justify $950 or even $899 for that Bow. What makes it more expensive to build than the others?

i did try a carbon element. (he does not have the longer one in store) i noticed a smooth draw, which i liked. it was real quiet, and seemed to kind of "rock back" in my hand when i shot it. not a big deal, i think that will/would even out with a stabilizer on it.

i shot all these bows with just a rest on them. my thinking is the one that shoots best with just a rest on it is going to shoot best once you add all your stuff on it as well, just as much better (lol on the grammar there) as if i were to put my accessories on all the other ones.

maybe that fuse blade stabilizer will be a good bet this year..

i thought the carbon element was loud and had some hand shock. and as for the matrix to me it felt like the same bow just diff weight. i think i will stick with my pse... haha no offense to hoyt shooters.

While I agree with you that they are over priced, same can be said for virtually all proline flagship bows. Justification is simple, "I want this, not that."

It is hard telling how many different makes & models I have shot in my 40+ years of archery (Yeah I'm an Ol Fart!) I know I have owned well over 100 personal bows, and I'm sure that has something to do with me being a dealer many of those years, but I really am an Archery Addict.

It truly is a buyers market today as there are many Nice bows out there. I shoot all the Flagship bows and more from the Big 3 or 4 every year. This Year was No exception.

There are NO Loud Bows!

The Carbon bows from Hoyt are pricey, Yes, but are really a true innovation in bow construction and design. Hoyt sold as many Matrix's as they could gear up and build last year and I am confident that the Element will be sold in even bigger numbers.

I personally liked the slightly longer A to A of the Matrix Plus but I know the Element will be more popular.

I have No intention of getting rid of my Matrix Plus and it's been a long time since I have said that about any Bow

I am anxious to get the 2011 Retribution in my hands and the Feedback I have gotten on these Bows as been Awesome. Also from talking to Rob it is obvious he is a perfectionist.

I think he will really do well and that's the reason I decided to pick up the line this year.

It really is Fun Bow Shopping!!

true, it is a buyers market. a lot of the manufacturers are making nice bows at great prices now.

bowtech also dropped the price of the destroyer. i believe that they came down $100 from last year if i am not mistaking.

You will not go wrong with a Hoyt. Most bow campanies are making great products. Honestly though there are no better made bows. Not bashing others. Just my opinion. Limb pockets, riser design, limbs and over all durability is just awesome. You wouldnt be Dissappointed.
