Folks in the know – Mathews Competition Bows

What have you seen to be the most common bows used for?

3D – most popular bow and cam setup

Field -- most popular bow and cam setup

Indoor -- most popular bow and cam setup

Three different venues and yes some bows may cross over, but what are some of the most popular setups that tend to rise to the top and what really makes these, the bow used to get it done?

The most ones I see for 3d is the triumph and for some spot shoots to. I have a Triumph and the bow is heck of a shooter.

That's what I've seen as well..

The Triump has a small following in spots but the C-4 is the winner... Triumph is more of a 3-D bow although you don't see many among the top dogs..

The Triumph has only been around for a year, one season of tournaments is not long enough to be on any ones most popular list.

It’s more so the drastic change in physical shape versus what we are used to, kinda like when the switchback came out – but yet the switchback was a mega leap forward in progression versus the conventional compound we were all used to seeing.

I have noticed myself as well as talking to others that if you are over bowed you will struggle a little with consistency if you turn the bow down some with maintaining the correct draw you will find this bow is a dream to shoot.

Some have had issues with left and rights especially if the bow is turned to it’s lower poundage’s this can be cleaned up by shimming the limb pockets if necessary, but with that said the bow still shoots better then what the operator can repetitively execute as far as the shot. Sometimes we tend to put more blame on the equipment for reasons of lower scores versus ourselves, and yes a forgiving setup goes along ways – mainly the confidence booster in which carries the game to the next level.

We all have our favorites be it the C4s or the Apex’s, heck even the monster can be set up and shoot very well.

There all good bows that’s the problem – you can only shoot one at a time.

The whole idea behind this thread, as well as the Hoyt thread is to pass some info on to the folks that are trying to decide on a bow.

We all can see who is shooting well and what color shirt they have on but for the most part that’s all they see. Discussions like this enable these folks to find out what bow and cam combination is popular and or different bows being the norm in a certain venues.

My favs are the C4 and the Monster and with that said I have shot the Apex 7 well but for and all around bow the C4 is tough to beat.

This could be a good reference thread for folks that are trying to figure out what they want and how to set it up.
