Default Turn around and someone handling your bow

I saw this on another site and it got me to thinking. It has happened to me on an occassion. You are somewhere shooting. You put your bow to the side. Start talking to someone with your back turned. Then you turn around and someone is standing there holding your setup looking it over.

Ever happened to you?

What would you do?

Yea I believe I am with Gator eye on this one. I know there are cheaters out there but I like to think they are not. So someone looking at my bow does not worry me.

Nothing like a new friend costing you a $1000 bow or a $500 do;;ar sight. Or , a good score in a shoot because of tampering.

I've had this happy to me a few times over the years and it usually starts out with "Whoa, What arre you doing with my bow?" and I say it with a normal voice, maybe just a touch of annoyance in it. Their reply and how it is given from there determines then what happens next. If they're apologetic and were just being inquisitive, then cool when can talk and become friends. If they get on their muscle about it and a little sassy....Cool again...we can also go from there. Don't matter much either way.

People shouldn't touch another man's woman, money or bow! Mess with one of these and you might get your A$% kicked!

I would never touch another persons bow unless I got permission. I don't have that problem. When you have a crappy looking bow and shoot like crap, other archers have no interest in your bow.

I like to think I would handel it like Gator Eye but I Know that any time my friends ask to shoot my bow, I let'em but inside I cringe. I would never pick up someone elses bow or property period. DEFENETLY DONT PET MY DEER HEADS.

Friends can grab my bow and shoot it whenever they want. A stranger just picking it up without asking would be a little weird. I don't think I'd get angry, but I'd certainly be more hesitant to be apart from it.

This is one of the few benefits of being a lefty .

I am usually one of the last shooters on the line before all clear is given and usually one of the first back to the line. I keep a close eye on my my bow when I'm not shooting it and almost always within arms reach of it as well.

I watch other shooters and can tell if someone is eyeballing my setup. If they are I always instigate and ask if they have any questions or what they would like to know. If I judge they are a competent I will let them handle and shoot it if they like. If not, I will let them look and possibly touch with my hands inches away at the ready.

It would irritate me, but unless I saw them trying to change something, I probably wouldn't get nasty about it.

Just go over & see if I could help them with something.

You want to look at my setup,. ask me, I'll let you, but there had better be asking first. Someone grabs my stuff and I may grab some stuff of theirs.

Im general I would hope that people would have a little bit of manners and ask first.

I'm ok with it because those that know me know that i'm representing a bow company and I want you to look at my bow.

I personally do not touch others stuff unless I ask first (even friends' stuff), but if someone touches mine (and it has happened) I walk up and politely say "Can I help you? Are you interested in buying? I can make that happen." Usually they will say sorry, and then talk to you and maybe you might find they are a pretty good person. Talk first, then act if need be. Archery is a game - for fun and friendship, serious - but fun.
