Command Shooting

I know it's all a preference, my only question is, how the heck does this work, people are literally making the release fire when it's where they want...aka hammering the trigger, i just dont understand how that could be consistent, or accurate?

seems like everything thats explained says to steady, even pressure onto the release, or pulling thru in an even steady amount of pressure....then there is this style which throws it out the window....i've tried squeezing the peg, and thats an ok way to shoot, and i've shot pulling thru my shots for years, but i have yet to try and force the shot to go off when i want it to....just seems nuts...
Any explanation.

Your mind has to be steele to do this to perfection. I know of only two pros that actually win that pull that off. Tim G and Dietmar T.

For the vast majority of shooters, command shooting is a nightmare waiting to happen <if it already isn't>

Try shooting fingers for 3 years and going back to "surprise" release.

Command seems to work fine for me with a release.

For some........worked great for me for a couple of months.

Then I started looking like someone had me hooked up to 220 Volts everytime I tried to fire a shot. I had muscles spazzing that I didn't even know I had.


Command shooting.....not for the weak minded.

I have found Command shooting to be very accurate for me... I hate hearing it called ''punching'' because the way i do it there is no ''punching'' involved... As the pin floats over the target i give the trigger a firm and controlled squeeze. It is very abrupt but completely gracefull. No spazzing or seizing involved....lol

I tried slowly squeezing the trigger like most say is the correct way but i found that just causes SEVERE target panic for me.

I am 5 times more accurate with a quick, controlled squeeze.

This obviously works for you!

If you don't mind a couple of questions?

- For you, is the trigger pull conscious or subconscious?
- If conscious, are you timing your float to trigger when the pin is in?

No critisizm intended here. Just trying to learn about a different technique from someone who has mastered it. If this comes across wrong, it's just my bad writing skills.

There is a big difference between command shooting and drive by shooting..

Even a hinge is fired with conscious thought, but not a jerk as the pin passes the target..

For me, I have come to grips with the fact that the pin is only going to sit so still, for so long. I have come to realize the point at which that is occurring(for me), this is a very short process, but when I see it happening, I begin executing my shot as mentioned above, not with a flip or jerk of the trigger, but not a long drawn out, slow squeeze waiting for the release to fire either.
All that accomplishes for me is, tension, movement and the "necessity" to make it fire .

I do "know" when I'm doing it "right", and the result is great, it's almost Zen like

I have honestly spent most of my practice time on AIMING, and disciplining myself to not waiver from it from the moment I hook up the release until the arrow hits.

I freely admit, finally breaking down and getting fit for glasses has helped more for my shooting than anything I personally have done.

This is an honest to God, 3 shot group from yesterday evenings practice. 3 shots, 65 yards with a trigger.

I quit at 3. Frankly...I'm running low on pin nock bushings
