Default Refinishing a bow

Hey all. I have an older Hoyt Excel. It shoots excellent for being near 20 years old. Last year the string broke (while shooting). I replaced the string but ever since then I've taken to looking closer at the condition every time I shoot. Last week I noticed that the cables are starting to wear out. So I've decided to change the string again along with new cables and just start fresh. I was wondering if any one has ever tried to re paint a bow and what the outcome was. The riser and body seem to be aluminum so I was thinking of just polishing of the faded camo paint and take it back to bare with clear coat. But for the limbs I was thinking of just flat black with some new Hoyt decals. Any thoughts on whether the paint should hold up on the limbs ? Also is it possible to change cables and the string with a " Portable" bow press ? Thanks for the any input
