Default new to archery

hey fellas, i finally bought a bow to do a little early huntin. Been hunting for awhile now but only during rifle season. just wanted to say hello because i will probably be on here a lot askin questions. I bought a used bow a few weeks ago. A 2006 hoyt. I think its called a charger, and i shot it for the first time yesterday and seems to shoot very well. If you guys have any tips or suggestions before i start practicing i would appreciate it. I think the bow is set at 70lbs, which i'm not sure if thats what i should keep it at. I was putting half the arrows clean through the target at 30 yards.

if you are just gonna practice with field points you can get a bag target fairly cheap or for a bit more you can buy a block target that you can shot broadheads also. or if into realistic targets can get 3d target like deer, turkey etc for 100 give or take a few depends on brand

Default Welcome

To see if your over pounded, without putting your release on the string, make sure you have an arrow knocked, hold your bow straight out in front as if you were going to shoot it then while holding it out, attach your release to the string and pull back and anchor. If you can do that without struggling or pointing the bow in the air to get it back you should be ok.
