oohhh I made that mistake a few years ago with a doe that I hit with my truck.
She had a broken back but not a broken spirit. I jump on her back with my trusty knife and was gonna slit her throat. She come all sorts of unglued once I jumped on. By the time the deed was done I think I had more blood on the ground than she did. I still got the scars on my hands from trying to put that doe out of her misery. Never again, she beat the crap out of me.

I had a friend (some of my friends or not to smart) that jumped out of a tree on a spike buck and was going to cut it's throat. he had shot all three of his arrows at it and it kept coming untill it was under the apple tree he was in. so he puts the knife between his teeth and jumps on the deers back. now this was on a steep hillside at the edge of the woods. he said when he got to the bottom of the hill he was begging the buck to let him go. I saw him a couple days later and thought he had been in a car wreck.
oh he never did find his knife.
