Here's what I think !
I got a 6 power scope with a red circle , there are alot of different types here in the " BIG BOYS CLASS " that has alot less shooters !
I got a clearifier in my peep !

Scopes and lenses really come down to trial and error and personal preference as to up pin, cross hairs or dots. Everyone can chime in here but all you will get is what they (I) like.
Viper is a very good scope for the money, it comes with a lens, your choice of magnification. It uses an up pin. A very important consideration is lens power and again very dependent on your own visual acuity. For 3D most don't go over 4X because of target motion.
10 thou or 19 thou., again depends on your own acuity. I have both 10 and 19 and switch back and forth with no problems. I started with an up pin and never tried anything else. I am comfortable with the pin and doubt a dot would work. I am planning to shoot a bunch of field this year and will give a dot a workout.
If you have a chance with friends, try what they have and make your own choice after trying several pins, dots, powers and fibre colour. Hope this helped a little, good luck.

I like a 4 power for 3d.
I use a .19 up pin with a dot stuck to the lense it self. That way if you have a shot going into dark or in direct sunlight and you can't see the dot, you can remove the lense and make the shot using the up pin. Just make sure you mark the outer edges of the lense so you can put it back in the same position.

I shoot a 6 power center drill lens with a .10 fiber optic in it. which I heat the ends of the fiber optic and mushroom it some. so it's a little more than .10. and I like the green fiber optic. it seem to show up better than any other color...............but I would set it up like gator said. I know a few times that I wished mine was. good luck.

Like above, I use a center drilled lens.
But mine is only 4 power and I use a .19 green fiber without flaring it.
See if any of your friends will let you try one or three out to see what you like.

Me personally I like a Viper scope with .019" pin and a 6X lens. That works best for me. The Viper is a good buy for the money.

I use a big viper 2 x with .010 green up pin. 2 or 3x is plenty for 3d , your not shooting across the great plains exactly

CR APEX with a 6X power lens .19 up pin and I use yellow colored clarifier in my peep and it's like seeing with 20/20 at those 40 plus target rings. I like to think if I can see it I can hit. So in thinking like that I put a good hold and release on the shot. It's not for everyone but I like it.

I bet the 4x makes the kitty-cats to large and it's messing with his sight picture.
