Howdy from TN

Hi all.....Looking to get back into the Archery world......been many years since I have shot...last year I pulled a Bow was 1986....I use to shoot indoor target....wow how have things changed...I was shooting a Double Golden Eagle Target bow.....and with today's standards it would be Junk.....LOL I still want to get back into target shooting....but lost on where to even start...I will start with a good used setup and work my way back up from there....will be getting my info from here....just stopping by to say Howdy.....

Why Thanks..........Looking forward to catching up on new things.....it was funny I was at a shop yesterday looking at a bow....saw my First D-loop....????
I was what in the heck is that......LOL....felt so stupid I have been out of the Game for a while...simple things like that was not around when I shot

Welcome pappy!! glad your here!! Even though equipment has changed, the name of the game is still the same. X-ring. Shoot as many bows as you can then decide what feels the best.

Glad to see you join Pappy,
I'm also a new comer on here. I recently started shooting my bows too.
I got hurt in 2007, fractured my tail bone and T12 area in my back.
To answer your question, I had a Golden Eagle in the mid 80's, nice smooth shooting bow, but I have two different bows now. One is a Bear that I use for hunting, the other is a Hoyt that I use to shoot in tournaments.
You don't need anything fancy or expensive to have a good time practicing or hunting, what ever makes you feel comfortable.
Glad that your back in the game though.

I picked up a older Mountaineer Target Bow a few weeks back...it's off to the shop being refinished ....main reason I got it was it had the same feel as my old mid 80's Golden Eagle.....Nice thing about this bow it has 80% let off ....you can hold it for a while....Like you I hurt a shoulder back in the 80's lifting weights...everything is fine ...think I am stronger now then I was then....LOL but at 52 I don't want to get hurt again....I have a Bowtech target bow coming in anytime now....today or tomorrow I will be shooting also....but just wanted this old thing to set up and remind me of the older days....good times....I was really big into guns...for several years...big time...belt fed 1919, and a 50 BMG sniper rifle....but the days of spending that kind of money on Ammo is long gone...sold off most of my toys except my AR's and MP5 they just sit in the safe now....so back into Archery.. after 25 years.....I use to shoot in an indoor league and had a ball...great folks...everyone always willing to help out and give you tips to get better....Like you said I don't need a 2000.00 rig to have fun...but sure I will end up there....LOL.....

Pappy.... I visit TN often as my mother lives there... Where are you shooting? I would love to try my hand at TN hunting as they live in the middle of no where and I have about 150 acres of land to myself.

I am in West TN just north of Memphis.....about 20 mins

Right now I am shooting in a Local indoor range (everything archery)
