I'm also a new comer on here. I recently started shooting my bows too.
I got hurt in 2007, fractured my tail bone and T12 area in my back.
To answer your question, I had a Golden Eagle in the mid 80's, nice smooth shooting bow, but I have two different bows now. One is a Bear that I use for hunting, the other is a Hoyt that I use to shoot in tournaments.
You don't need anything fancy or expensive to have a good time practicing or hunting, what ever makes you feel comfortable.
