Need a computer genius

Are any of you actually knowledgeable in computers?

I need to get me a computer for school cuz sharing this one with my husband just isn't working for me.

So, I need a computer to do Online courses, keep track of my quiver biz, personal finance, and just random other stuff like picture storage and recipe files.

What do I look for?
What brand would you recommend? Dell, Lenovo, HP, Toshiba, other?
I am looking to spend $500-800 max.
I prefer to have the number key pad on the side since I will be using it for Math classes alot.
My kids might watch the occasional movie when we are traveling, maybe.

Hey Wheely, Hp would be my first choice second choice Toshiba.
Look for duel core or quad core processer.
Also look for 4gig memory or better.

Thanks Hutch, I think that was a popular one on my online searches for best computers, along with Dell Inspiron, and Levono thinkpad.

Are there any cons on the other two?

I think I will go try to look at a few tomorrow

There are cons on every computer. But the repair is one of my concerns. With Dell it has to be sent to them for repair all the internals are sealed if I remember right. The Levono is one I can say much about. I don't know it and have not used it.
