Did you know that a 25 grain .17 will travel 100 yards about 18 milliseconds faster than a 85 grain 243. The 243 will have about 4 inches more drop at 500 yards than the 17 but the 17 will arrive only 4 milliseconds ahead of the 243 at that distance.
Of course to measure 12 inches I would have to lie out at least twice depending on how long it takes the blue pill to work although I do have 5 children or at least let me say the wife did, but with either the 17 or the 243 I will dot the “I” at any distance. In other words I don’t shoot blanks and have one hell of a child support payment to make.
