Default Bow for my daughter

So my daughter will tag along with me to the range every now and then... She really wants to start shooting. She is going to be 6 this summer and I was thinking about getting her a bow in the next year or so. But she is really small for her age and I worry about her being able to use even a small youth bow. But with that being said I don't want to buy her a toy either. Any ideas on what I should start to look at first?

Genesis will draw for her age up to 12 or 14 years old.

Default Rhino Bows

I'm not sure but I think they offer up grade your old bow as they grow too, but I could be mistaken on that part of the package when buying a Black Rhino.
A friend of mine got his 7 year old one and put those figure rollers on the string and he was having a blast shooting with us.

Talking A little known fact !

I just brought a Mathews Genesis in camo for my grandchildren , so I got that and a Mission Menace for them .

That Genesis has been the same bow for years and is a good investmant . Give it a thought and look at the Mission lineup , just don't inform our Aussie friend here , that I said that !

I got 9 grandchildren from 1 =16 years old , so these bows will get used !

I might want to add , that the Genesis bow makes a great bowfishing rig , another reason to buy it !

Choosing a bow for a 6 yr old can be a real challenge. For one thing the child has no idea of how to draw a bow or how to establish any repeatable anchor points. That's one reason I'm not a big fan of the Genisis bows. With the exception of the Genisis Pro there is no way of setting up a draw stop so the child can develop proper draw length. The Mini Genisis would fit the bill well if only it had draw stop provisions.

Make no mistake about it. Even with children the most important aspect to learning is being able to set the draw length to the child. Not the other way around. Without being able to measure the child I'm not so sure it's 14" minimum draw length would be too long.

Same goes for the Darton Ranger, although I'm a big fan of this as a youth bow because of it's adjustability and the fact that it can be used by older children or even women. Truely a useful bow over the long haul.

I'm sorry I can't add anything really useful. As a coach of children I find this age group to be the most frustrating to get decent equipment for. As a parent I can also see an issue of money. You never know just how long they will keep up with shooting or how serious they may get as the years pass.

First you need to get a child interested , this is why the one size Mathews Genesis works good for that !

I got to agree that if you got the money , another bow with the correct draw length , would work better !
