Turkey day and I hunted am and pm instead of filling my belly. Mistake. Cold and windy this am, just cold pm. Tomorrow am is supposed to be about 23-25. No wind though. This is it for bow here. Dec 2, the orange army is out.

Finally scored on a deer Thanksgiving morning...2 reasons you cant see a picture...

1. Shot with the .308

2. I shoot does in the head and from the front if I can...(it was not pretty) No meat wasted though.

I've had the opportunity to take 20 yards or less shots, but at small ones (one you could still see where it's white spots were). I'm not picky as long as it's a grown-up deer. I just haven't had any luck getting one within bow range.

Can't do it. I just can't. Has to be a grown-up deer. I know anything is legal but I cannot do it. Everybody has their limitations and I won't pass judgement on others who feel different than me. I have taken yearlings in the past just so you all know, but I find it hard to do now. Season is not over for me, not giving up yet.

SG ends tomorrow thank god. Gets rid of 50% of the hunters. Looking forward to a ML on my back and bow in hands for the rest of the month. I still got a chance. During SG I don't want to venture around much for fear of pushing deer off the property I hunt. ML/Bow till end of the year now. (after tomorrow). Snow storm coming too.

We'll started tracking this morning, first 150 yrds the red carpet was all over the place (rage) then all of a sudden it was blood here and there with him bedding every 50 yrds. Well after following his prints in the snow with little blood for 400yrds, but when he stopped he would bleed decent , he quite bleeding and I decided to take a break. Will go back out in a bit to look again. I found my arrow and it had dark clumps on the broad head, I'm thinking liver.

I nailed a massave stag with the Ute on Sunday morning,he got up and ran to the edge of the road jumped over a 15" cliff cleared the fence and ran down under a tree by the creek!!!!Took a few hours but haven't recoverd him yet???? Still in velvet!!! On a better note took a good mate out hunting with me and after shooting 10 practise arrows through my spare bow,he's never touched a compound in his life goes out with me and nails a feral goat ????Here's his 12th arrow of all time number 11 missed ,mind you we have been rifle hunting for over 30 yrs together!!!!He's now hooked and wants me to work out a rig for him funny how that happens. All I can say is I must be one heck of a Instructor!!!LOL

Roadkill is my only option now. Froze my butt off 12/31 finishing out the season with the bow, nothing to show for it. Just endured a classic noreaster here, feel bad for anything that has to live outside. 15" of fresh snow, below zero temps tomorrow morn. Depressing.
