How far do you practice?

How far do you normally practice? I shot 20 yds out in the yard quite a bit and once a week or so I go to the range and shoot further (30-40 yds)

Today I was practicing at 50 and shooting pretty well (pie plate) so I thought I would see what happened at 60 and to my suprise I was actually shooting pretty well. I have never really shot that far before.

My furthest hunting shot is about 25 yds. so I never saw the need but it was fun. Must be the bow!!

When getting ready for 3-d season I usually practice anywhere from 70-80 yds. Sometimes I try 100 yds and longer. I'm not very good from those distances but after shooting them, a 40 yard 3-d target looks seems like a chip shot.

I will shoot 60 yards when I can, but usually the practice is at 40.

HOLY CRAP! I have shot that far once or twice for a bonus shot at a shoot.

A few months ago I hit a turkey that was about 70-75 yds. I was pretty happy about that. I dont do it regularly though.

LOL I guess that is just one of the good things about living out in the sticks.

It really does help with shooting those 35-45 yard shots at the 3-d range.

Both bows are set to 80 yards but I do most of my practice at 40 yards because it seems like 40 yards is about average at a lot of the 3D shoots.

I live in town which really sucks....

I got 13yards in the garage. If I want more I gotta lug the bag to my Dad's property or drive to the bow club......

I am deadly at 13 yards though....

70 yards and in anymore, I used to practice out to 100 yards, but the eyes aren't what they used to be. I can get 80+ yards behind the house easy

60yd is about as far as i have hit anything so far...most of my practice is 40-50yd.

I can get about 30 yards at home down the driveway and into the garage. But my neihbors seem to get a little nervous with arrows flying 15 yards from their house. I need to buy a target for my parents house I can shoot about 90 yards over there but usually only shoot about 50 there.

I practice out to 50 yards. Most of our 3-d targets are about 42 yards and closer. I did shoot one shoot this year that had a carp target at 44 yards and the little honey bear at 37 yards. Luckly I got an 8 on the carp and a 10 on the bear. Blind luck.

out to 75 for me. I like to mix it up, ill shoot 1 arrow at say 30 then 50, then to 75 then to 45 ext back and fourth,Gets me usto using all my pis, so i can go right to the one i need faster.

Just like alot of guys have already said the longer shots make the short ones easier in theory. in field league it would amaze me how I could shoot the 80yd walk up clean and then miss one at 30. I used to practice at 20 but now I like to shoot at 60 or 50 and move in maybe every ten arrows

60+ or at least I try to. Its amazing to see what little imperfections in your form or what little imperfections in the arrow can cause on longer shots.

I start out at 20, move to thirty and so on intil about 80. I don't have enough clearance to go past 80.
When you get past 30 or 40 yard your form flaws really start showing.

About 25 yards where I hunt is the longest shot I could take.

It's real thick around here unless I hunt a field.

I got back from shooting a little while ago. I was drilling them right off the bat so I scooted back to 50 yds. and was drilling them. So I thought what the heck. I scooted back to 60 yds. and was putting them mostly in a circle about 5" across.

I couldnt believe I was shooting that good so I scooted back to 70 and I had 3 arrows in about a 4" group. Two of them were almost touching but I was about a ft. high so after adjusting my sights I took 3 more shots.

One right in the circle and two about an inch low of the circle. That is awesome for me. Prior to today I had only take like 3 shots over 50 yds. and none were that good.

It was alot of fun. I will probly keep fooling about for fun though. I have found that some days it seems like I can hit almost anything and sometimes it seems like I cant hit anything.

12 yards in my Government Quarters, but I got the base Archery range not even a mile from my place, it will go out to 60 yards but funding sucks so I am usually the one to buy the baled hay for backstops.
Got an indoor 20 yard range about 15 miles away I try to do spots every once in a while.

Same for me. Except 60 is the farthest I try. I spend most of my time at 30.

I usually dont shoot past 30 or 40 but practicing at the longer distances is making me more confident. I would probly take a longer hunting shot now.

I don't practice any farther than 50. I shoot quite a bit between 20 and 40 yards, mostly because I can in my yard. 50 requires me to drive and make time for it. If I want to take a break from household chores I can just pick the bow off the ceiling hook, walk into the yard and shoot for 15-20 minutes. It's nice and it will spoil me if I ever have to move and don't have that kind of space.
