Default How far can I go??

I just purchased a 150lb fiberglass prod for the construction of my stonebow (AKA: bullet crossbow, slurbow) on ebay. I am in the midst of designing my crossbow, and im wondering, how can I find out how far my prod can bend?

Are there any good guidlines, perhaps a leanght to displcement ratio??

My prod is 27" long btw.

Any advice on how much i can bend this thing? I know that i want to bend it as far as possible, so as to impart as much kinetic energy to the projectile....

Anyways, thanks!!

Mike

bend it until it breaks, then when you buy the next one don't bend it as far.

Default ok...

Bend it till it breaks?? lol, thanks guys

Any new ideas??

BTW, a prod is used on a crossbow. I know this isnt a crossbow forum, but the idea of how far you can bend somthing shouldnt be different from bow to prod.

Thanks for the help so far guys

depends,
You are going to be bending it on a small axis point
This restricts how far you can go back. as all the pressure is in one point.
i think you said it was a 27 inch piece.
Take a measureing tape, and extend it to 27 inches.
Then bend it around a beer can. See what looks like a max to you,
and then try it with the rod.
I wouldnt think you could get past 15 inches
