Default Bow vise...

Looking to purchase one.
I'd prefer one that clamps instead of bolts to the workbench since I need it to be portable.

Any feedback on what's a good value vs. what's not ?

Thanks, Ron

The R.S. Bowvise looks pretty good. I was going to buy one, but I am cheap and built one myself.

Hey Joe, that's great.
Does that clamp the bow so you can rotate it down and adjust other axis ?

Thanks, Ron

Get this one and use a c-clamp instead of bolts.

Yeah it rotates in both axis. Here are the detail pictures I promised Tedicast last night. I used 1/2" aluminum and 1/2" bolts, a 1/4" eyebolt with an eye to fit over the back of the one bolt. The 3 bolts that grip the limb are covered with vinyl tubing. When ever I make anything, I first scrounge around to see what I can find then design it from there. I try not to buy anything... yeah I am cheap but I enjoy the challenge even more!

I'm pretty sure from his description above that those are 1/2" bolts.

I cut the heads off of 1/2" bolts to make "pins" and screwed the threaded part into 1/2" aluminum bar stock that I tapped, the excess threads of the bolts were cut off (except on the one that has the eyebolt) I put vinyl tubing (I had to buy ) over the "pins" to protect the limbs and give it some grip.

I used something like 6" long bolts, they are only threaded the last inch or so.
