dovetail vs. direct mount

Okay another sight question for you all. what are the advantages of a dovetail mount vs a direct mount for sights. I have never shot a dovetail mount so just wondering your opinions.

A dovetail allows you to move the sight in/out from the riser. I set my Viper in front of the riser for shooting and slide it back when I case the bow. I can also remove it without screwing up the zero.

The only down sides I can think of are added weight and it's one more thing that can work loose if you don't secure it properly.

Another downside if you're a dope like me, you can forget to extend the sight and spend half an hour trying to figure out why all your arrows are hitting high/low.

Love them puppies
they allow you felxibility.
If you are usin' tha direct one now and it is doin' ya good why change.

Well, my old bow has a direct mount. But since I just put a payment down on a new bow, I would like the right equipment to go with it.

Unless your target shooting. Its really not needed. I use a spot hogg real deal for hunting. You dont want the apeture that far away for hunting any ways.
