3d set up

my wife wants to set up a 3d bow. what style of rest is good or is a wb fine? Is a three pin sight with peep good? what is a good stabilizer? anything else she might need or want. The bow she likes is a mathews ignition. thanks for your input.

It would depend on the class she would be competing in. If it's bowhunter class, most places limit you to four pins, a 12" or less stabilizer, screw in points and four inch fletching. Open or freestyle you can use scopes w/ magnification, long stabilizers, offset bars, etc.

If she's going to mainly hunt with a few 3D's thrown in, the WB would be a good choice, but if she's going target only, I'd probably look at a two prong or a spring steel rest.

For a stabilizer, I'd look at Postens.

With the popularity of blazers, I doubt it. I only shoot a few local 3D's, I've never been to an ASA sanctioned shoot, so I've never had anybody take a real hard look at my set-up. Most of the local clubs are just glad to get the entry fee.

I am assuming that she has never shot 3D before??? So she is not sure what she wants or will like. Basically it really comes down to what she will like or not like. Most of it will be trial and error before she knows what she likes or dislikes.

A Mathews Ignition is a good bow so I wouldn’t go too cheap on the accessories:

To start someone out, these would be my recommendations (But I'm no expert):
Rest: Whisker Biscuit is fine (depending on fletching of the arrow). A drop away gives you more options on your fletching type for your arrows.
Sight: Any 3 - 4 pin sight with a peep, should be fine
Stab: Any stabilizer, which helps balance out the bow and helps with shock/vibration (Sims SCoil should be good for that, she may not want something too heavy for her, on some small frame bows, some people don’t like a stabilizer on it)

Not around here. Most everyone shoots Blazers or short Quick-spins.

I shoot in the bowhunter class with basically my hunting bow...
short stabilizer, WB, fixed pin sight and peep...
that's a good solid setup for her...

such a goofy rule...I just don't get why they wouldn't change it to allow blazers since they have become so popular with hunters. I would hate to have to re-fletch my arrows to go shoot a tourney!

Yup, I agree.

But when you think about it all it does is remove doubt from all the doubters about how good Blazers are...

I would let your wifes bow be,all out open class!
Drop a way rest
tournament sight, toxionix or surelock
power scope if she wants
Long stabilizer
Carbon arrows with eather short quick-spins or blazers.
The WORKS!

In the tournaments in VA all women shoot against each other there are usually only 4 to 10 at a tournament and bowhunter class open class it dosent matter the women stake is the women stake, the gals with the trecked out bows blow the bowhunter class out the water because there is no rule, to make the pro gals move back to the pro-stake!
