One down Sunday.
Well, I got one. To make a long story short this buck came in from the field and disapeared into the woods. A half hour later and just before dark I had 2 does and 2 fawns come in from the South and were feeding 20 yards from me when I heard a deer coming from the North. This buck came right down the trail just under 30 yards from me and I stopped him with a grunt. Unfortunately he looked right at me as I put the 30 yard pin behind his shoulder. As I turned the arrow loose he ducked and the arrow passed right over his back. As the deer bounced off a few yards I felt my stomach flip. I knocked another arrow and surprisingly one of the does headed righ back toward me with the buck following. He got in a clearing at 25 yards, I had the pin on him and let arrow #2 fly. Felt like a good shot but I couldn't tell where it hit. He ran off about 50-75 yards and i heard crashing in the brush followed up but 5 or 6 wheezes, then nothing. I gave him 20 minutes then snuck out of the stand and back to the house. Half hour later we went back and found him dead on the edge of the field. What a relief! He's not a monster, but I'm sure proud of it.

Darn right. Thats a nice one. They do funny things when the testosterone is raging huh? Now about those tics attached to your ears..... I can understand wanting to blend in but your going a little overboard. ...

I live/hunt in central IL.
Gonna be back in the stand this weekend. I've seen a big 10 and a bruiser of an 11 or 12 running around. I also saw another 8 last night that was bigger than the one I shot.
