Default How high do you guys like to be in your stands.

I have stands ranging from 12 to 18 feet and I almost will not hunt the ones under 15 feet, but today I hung a new one at 18 and I forgot how high that really seems in a small portable. At least it is has a good climbing stick up to it but those stands seem so small when you get on them. In the future when I put one over 15 feet I am going to buy some bigger platforms. How high do you like to be?

Minimum of 15 feet for me but 20 is better. It depends on the tree too.

Default Yeah, but I think heights and age don't go together.

The older I get the less 20 foot appeals to me. I know I get busted about every time under 15 but I only have about 2 stands that low. I build most of my own. I have alot of ladders that I have built myself.

I killed a doe on the ground this year and I loved it. It was really windy that day and I figured I could get away with a little more movement and I called it spot on. I shot her at 23yrds broadside. It was kinda like shooting at a 3D target. I was really pumped up about that one.

I'd say 15-20. Our season starts early too so if you get too high up you'll be up in the green canopy and won't be able to see anything unless it walks right under you.
