release punching correction

I have to correct my question. I shoot a tru-fire judge release. The problem with it is that if you crank the tension down (heavy) all of the way, the jaws sometimes don't close all of the way apparently. It misfired with my index finger behind the trigger upon drawing the bow. Does anyone else shoot this type of release with their middle finger- also, there is a set screw that will adjust "travel" of the trigger. What does that mean?

I had a truball hurricane and had a couple flyers as I would draw the bow back. My fingers are always behind the trigger when i draw the bow. Luckily both times it did that no one got hurt. It is kinda embarassing when it happens because you look like ya dont know what you are doing I didnt do anything to it. I was in the middle of deciding what kind of release I wanted when that happened.
