Field League update, good lord!

Well, one of the guys threw up some huge numbers in last weeks field league. He shot 277 & 278, that's out of 280 folks.

I wish I could say it was me but it was Bob Anderson. Bob used to shoot Pro division a few years ago and decided to pick up the bow again this year and he sure didn't forget how to shoot. Wow.

So here is a dumb question. How does feild archery work? What kind of target? What is the distance? How does the scoring system work? Sorry for all the Q's.

Field Archery is shot at paper targets. Their are two types of targets. One is called the field round and one called the animal round (even though you are not shooting animals). The difference is the color of the bullseye. One is white and the other is black.

In Field archery, you know the exact distance to the target. The size of the bullseye changes depending on the distance from the target. You shoot 4 arrows at each target. The closest shot in field archery is 20ft and the farthest is 80yards. That said there is only one 80 yard shot on each 14 target round. The 80yard walkup target, you shoot 1 shot at 80, 1 at 70, 1 at 60 & 1 at 50.

A full round is 14 field and 14 hunter targets. Each half as a possible of 280 points. Targets are scored 5,4,3 etc. per arrow for 20 points possible on each end.

288 is real good. The max possible per half is 280.
