Default Lets talk GPS

I have a Garmin GPS 5 and it works great on the dash of my truck but if I put it in my pocket I lose a signal every time,so my question is what hand held GPS that I can down load maps to will hold a signal if I put it in my pack,or will they all lose a signal?

There is a belt holder for the vista series that keeps the corners of the antenna open. I think this would be acceptable. Everytime I put one in a pocket, it stops working.

Now I did forget to turn mine off while in my backpack and it picked up some signals but was very spotty.
