what arrow length to shoot

I am just getting back in to archery and I can't remeber what length of arrows to shoot, my draw length is 29"

Put on arrow on your bow and draw it back, have someone mark the arrow with a pen so you can measure from the groove in the nock to the end of the shaft. Depending on what you are doing (hunting or target) you may have different lengths. I like my target arrows to be just barely past the rest, but broadheads I like to keep in front of my hand, just MHO.

From my (admittedly limited) experience this is somewhat a factor of how stiff your arrows are and what weight your tip is. Once the tip of your arrow is past your arrow rest, you are trying to achieve good flight. So it will be a function of how strong your bow is, and what weight your tip is. Basic rules: the longer the arrow the softer the spine, the heavier the tip the softer the spine. Based on your draw length I think your minimum arrow length will be 29". After that it is a matter of tuning your arrows and bow. If this is the first time you are doing this it is best to talk to a pro shop since they will typically do a good job in getting arrows set up to you and your bow. Barring that try to find an experienced archer to help you out. Also, most arrow boxes will tell you on the back what length you need for a particular draw weight. As long as your arrow will stay on the rest then your arrows should be long enough though it is a good idea for broadhead arrows to extend past your hand in case the arrow slips off of the rest.

My draw length is 29" and my arrow is 29.5". I shoot target/3D.

Welcome.

I would recomend going to your local proshop and have them cut the proper spine and length of arrow for you. Then you have all the specs when you need more

My Dl is also 29", my arrow length is 28" for target arrows and 29.5 for hunting. Like I said, I like them broadheads to be a little bit farther away from my hand.

28" length Satellite Archery SafetyGlass Vaned Arrows, Arrows, Bear Archery bows

Model number ESC-A1090 , $10 for a dozen.

Would these be too long for them? I'm about to buy them for Christmas, should I go with something shorter?

all you guys saying a .5" past the rest are not very up on the times......

how can you say that when you dont know the perticular setup??

you guys are gonna get someone hurt......

its all gonna depend on what shaft you decide to shoot......

I am setting up some indoor arrows right now

according to the numbers I have a 26.5 inch draw setup on this bow.....

to get the arrows tuned and spined correctly for this setup at 48-50 pounds, I am gonna have to shoot the arrows at around 33-34 inches and have 200 grain tips in them......

so the best bet is to take the bow to someone who knows how to get the most out of a setup (ie. Pro Shop)
