hi im a new hunter and goes for wild turkeys. I was thinking of using a bow but thers told me a shotgun would be better. is using a bow really requires certain skills?or practice still makes perfect? Thanks!

both..new to turkey hunting..and im considering what to use a bow or a shotgun..they say that since im a newbie at hunting i would rather use a shotgun..nevr used a bow before..i think it requires more skills..

Well, if your new to bowhunting, start with the shotgun. Turkeys are small animals and you need to make a good hit if you want to recover them.

That said, if your hunting from a blind and know your effective range, turkey hunting with a bow is really a challenge.

that seems interesting but i have to learn more.. what shot size can do well for turkeys?

Most folks like 5 or 6 for turkey. I shot my first gobbler this year using #4 shot (hevi-shot). The 3 inch shell rolled him at 35 yards.

Hunting larger game with a bow is probably better for beginners. But you know your abilities better than us. Good luck.

get a 12 gauge that can take 3.5 inch shells and make sure u dont buy a shiny 1 because a turkey will see the gun

Killbambidead has given you good advice. You don't have to shoot 3.5 inch shells, but get a gun capable of it.
Check your regulations concerning shot size. The lower the number the larger the pellet. So a 3 inch shell with 1.25 ounce #6 shot will have more pellets than the same shell with #4 shot. Practice with different brands, get a good turkey choke and see which one your gun patterns the best.

I like Mossberg shotguns for a good combination of durablity and price, but their are many good brands (Benelli, Remington, etc.) I have a Mossberg 835(pump). The 935 is semi-auto.
Like bows in archery, you need to find one that feels good to you.
