Question Bow press plans?

Does anyone have plans for a good homemade press? I know I have seen them before but even after Google I cant get any active links. Any help would be great. I need a winter project!

You might try doing a search on that OTHER site for them. I found some a couple of years ago that were real detailed. I built a press from them.

Same here, in fact I just modified the original press I built to accept longer A-A bows. Search AT. Good plans and I think I spent 35.00 on materials.

Here is the press I made. Verry easy to build and works just like the high dollar version.

just dont get 120 wall the 1 1/2 has a seam that runs the lenght of the tubing and unless you have a really cool tool to take down that seam with it wont work... let me tell you have i know

Thumbs up hope you can read it

cost around 30 or so depends on how well you scrounge.

parts list ( youll need a sawzaw or some cutting device)

1 1/2 120 wall tubing
1 1/4 120 wall tubing
5/8 all thread rod
5/8 grade a nut 3 or so
some type of crank handle.. i used a bolt and welded it to the end of the rod so i can use a air tool to make expanding it long distances easy.
and a little creativity
ohh and a welder will post pics when im done and make sure it works..lol

I am looking to make 1 like the pic above. Just with my own twist.

I Plan on knotching the 1 1/2 to fit over the 1 1/4 run a bolt thru the notch to act as my hinge point on both arms. And that way I can move the arms to work on differant bows. That is my plan so far.

I'll be happy to provide the space and tools… If anybody wants' to come over and help:
1) Clean out the garage so we have room to work
2) Lug around, help cut and jig up, the steel bits.

I have a wire feed MIG unit out in the garage, but I really can’t do much w/ my shoulder all jacked-up.

My welds aren’t pretty, but they are sound, and we can grind them to look nice….

That's pretty sweet set-up! I love the way it breaks down for storage, etc.

Any chance of you coming out of "retirement"?
