Better Fall away?

I'm shooting a rip cord fall away rest on my hoyt trykon. I'm pulling 84 pounds. My fletching hits. I've tried every fall away rest on the market as of last year, and the ripcord makes the least amount of contact out of all of them, but it still makes contact. Not sure if it is "bouncing" and hitting my fletching on the way up again, but whatever it is, it's really pissing me off. I'd shoot a different type of rest, but I dont want to sacrifece arrow capture either. Any suggestions?

I'd venture an educated guess and say that if every rest you've tried has had clearance problems then it probably isn't the fault of the rests at all. It's got to be improper rest timing and/or arrows that are not stiff enough for your setup.

So what arrows are you shooting now. This is what I'd look at first. There aren't very many arrows spined stiff enough for such high weights.

powder spray that rest & give it a shot...i've set a bunch of ripcords up & if set right never had one to bounce or hit.....

Get your hands on a vital gear fall away. I don't hear of many others that know of them. Now I have seen the vital sights and to me they are lightweight and cheezy. But this rest is rock solid and dead quiet. Got two small arms that capture instead of a bar like some others. Never had a clearance issue. You must check this one out.

how fast is your bow? it may be that a drop away wont work for you if your bow is fast.
We've used Hoyt smartrest by NAP on several Hoyts, but all under 300 fps, and they work well.

Due to the non-level nock travel of the trykon, this might be a bit more difficult than normal. The nock travel is high at full draw and comes back down when shot. Also make sure your cams are sync'd perfectly also.

Yeah, I'll check out those other rests, The vital bowgear rest was the first one I bought and it was the worst out of all of them. As for the non level knocking on the hoyt, I've heard of that before, but if that's really the case, than it doesn't seem any rest would really work. And as for my arrows not being stiff enough, I'm shooting cx maxima's and I have a set of Easton full metal jackets, both cut to 26" at the knock pit. I haven't seen any stiffer arrows.

Nock travel could be an issue. Chris is right make sure your cams are in time. Have you tried a Dropzone yet? I haven't seen a fast bow setup properly that a dropzone didn't work well on.

Try a Trophy Taker Shakey Hunter. I have never had any problems with it.

Two simple things, one are you sure that your arrow is up high enough off the rest to begin with and two, are you shooting **** vane up?. OK there's a third, is your nocking point high enough ? Yep and a fourth, check the timing and make sure it's dropping soon enough..........More later

Limb Driver is also decent but a little more on the spendy side. With a TT you cant beat the cost!

I have setup, used, and sold several models of dropaways. They vary from pretty good to pretty awful.

IMHO the Limb Driver is the best out there. My second choice would be the Whammy. Check out my current specials on Ebay if you are looking for a Limb Driver.

I have the whammy on one of my bows. It's set up per their instruction and I haven't had any contact problems. Even 5" feathers don't contact.

Trophy taker, well made, simple yet, many configurations. So why fix it? The only thing thats broke is 60-75% of the other fall away competitors contraptions.
