Smile Archer set

Hello! My son will turn 13 next month. I'd like to buy archery set for him for his birthday. I will appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

I would recommend finding a good local pro shop and having them measure him up and help get him setup with his first bow. He doesn't need the latest and greatest or most expensive bow out there but definately needs one that fits him and feels good to shoot.

Most of us don't prefer the package setups. I know he is only 13 and starting but I would buy a bare bow and then give him a say in choosing the sight etc. - let alone the bow. My daughter was 14 when she started and that's how I handled her, I set a price range and let her choose the equipment - although I did have the advantage of being familiar with what was out there. The Darton Ranger series bows are very flexible (My daughter started on a Ranger III; she has went on to another bow but we still keep it around for someone who wants to give archery a try) and the Micro Midas is another possibility. If you're willing to invest more then you could go on up from there. I do agree with getting him to a pro shop.

Finding a good local pro shop to help get him measured and find something off the consignment rack.

And a few lessons!

2 or 3 lessons right up front will alleviate years of frustration later.

If you can tell us about (understand you don't want to give exact location) where you are, there might be someone local who can steer you towards a good shop, or away from a bad one

My kids had Darton Ranger_II and a MicroMidas3 and they were decent bows for the money

The Parker Sidekick is a nice bow as well and you can send it in to swap heavier limbs for only $50.00

Forgot about the Parker - yep, that would work as well.

Try to find the bow that fits your price range! Lots bow companys out there, but Diamond Razor - goes from 19 to 29 inch draw and 30 to 60lbs. with the same set of limbs! also adjusted mods! I think m.a.p. is $329.00! This is a great starter Bow! Comes With everything, sight, quiver, rest, wrist sling, peep.

I agree great set up. I intend on getting the Razor edge for my son. And because of the range in set up if he decides it is not for him you won't have any problem selling it. ( it also comes with a lifetime warrenty) A good local shop is key, no box stores.
