3D/Target shooting bow configuration (not for hunting)

I am in the process in fitting out Diamond Razor Edge or Bowtech Soldier for used in 3D target shooting. I understand that hunting configuration is usually a little different than a target configuration. My question

1. What size stabilizer do I use (7", 11" or 30" octane). I was told that the Speciality Archery 18" light weight are also good

2. Sights - any views on peepless? any good budget alternatives to 3d competition sights

Any other thoughts?

What class are you planning on shooting in? That will dictate what equipment you can use.

To help you figure out the class you want to shoot in here are a couple questions.

Sight fixed or movable, if you are starting out I would guess fixed pin?
Release or fingers?

But to help alittle I would recommend a stabilizer under 12inches since over that puts in the same class as more advanced shooters. The octane is a nice stab and I would likely not be able to tell the differance from the Doinker. Also the octane is cheaper.

Sounds like you are just starting out. With that in mind, put a 11 or 12" stabilizer on there, a multiple pin sight with .019 pins and a level, and whatever arrows you have and go have fun. This will put you in Bowhunter or novice class pretty much anywhere you go. If you are just gonna shoot indoors, take all but one pin out and shoot away. Once you figure out what you like, you can progress to fat arrows and better sights. This will still keep you in bowhunter. Then as you progress more, the sky is the limit... Micro adjust sights, single pins with lenses, super long stabilizers, etc.

Thanks for all the good advice. As some of you have guessed, I am a novice. So looks like a 11'' octane is the way to go for now.

Since I am starting out, I have ready several reviews on peep elimination devices - such as Archery Innovation's Anchor Point and use of kisser buttons. Any thoughts?

Go with a peep sight like a Tru Peep. Good pin sight with .19 pins.
12" stabilizer. Your release and shoot the hunter class at local 3d or indoor events.

Find a good pro shop in your area.

Find a local archery club and join it. Members will give you suggestions.

Check out the stuff everyone is shooting at the club.
